Seasons Greetings from Halco Glass!
Stay safe, and have a Happy New Year.
Stay safe, and have a Happy New Year.
Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict, as well as in peace. We remember the more than 2,300,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A national ceremony is held at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, where the Governor-General of Canada presides over the ceremony. It is also attended by the Prime Minister, other government officials, representatives of Veterans’ organizations, diplomatic representatives, and other dignitaries — along with Veterans as well as the general public.
Celebrate less socially and trick-or-treat locally this year. Halloween in 2020 can still be fun if done safely by following these tips:
And as always, wear reflective strips or carry a flashlight to make you visible to motorists.
Fall weather brings shorter daylight hours and unpredictable driving conditions. This time of the year is especially critical for motorists to see and be seen.
Clear off your windshield
Keep your windshield clean without using products that accentuate the sun’s glare. Replace your old wiper blades with fresh ones to eliminate streaking, and always scrape off any frost in the morning before hitting the road.
Use your headlights
Make sure that your headlights work, and then turn them on whenever it’s foggy, raining, or while driving between dusk and dawn. And remember, when driving in fog, only use low beam settings so you won’t blind oncoming drivers, or yourself.
If your pet travels with you in your car, this information will help ensure they stay safe.
Buckle up—even pets
Just like people, animals need to be buckled up for safety. Having your pet properly restrained can prevent them from escaping, flying forward in your vehicle, or being hurt in a crash.
Keeping your pet secured in your vehicle also prevents you from driving while distracted. Driver distraction is a leading cause of car crashes in B.C.
Thieves will ‘smash and grab’ if they suspect you have the following items in your vehicle. According to police reports, these items are the 10 most popular:

As the situation around COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to evolve, and as the outbreak had been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, we would like to take this time to highlight how we are protecting our customers, vendors, and the entire team at B&D Autobody & Glass and Halco Glass. We have had no cases at our location thus, we will be continuing to serve our customers during our regular business hours and will continue to ensure that everyone visiting our shop is kept as safe as possible. Our goal is to help control the virus while also maintaining a healthy and inviting environment for everyone.
Our COVID-19 Prevention Plan includes the following points:
Sanitization
Increased sanitization of all high-traffic areas and touch-points; this is in addition to our general daily cleaning and weekly professional cleaning service.
In-Shop Safety
Safety communication is in place throughout the shop, including posters outlining hand-washing techniques, prevention, and steps to take if a staff member were to experience symptoms.
Hand Sanitizers
Due to the shortage of hand sanitizer, we will have a limited supply for guests, please make sure to bring your own or wash your hands in the guest washroom upon entry.
Vehicle Preparation
Customer vehicles that are brought into the shop are outfitted with steering wheel covers and seat protectors prior to repair work. Additionally, all customer vehicles, our fleet of courtesy cars, and rental vehicle surfaces such as seats, steering wheels, door handles, gearshifts, touch screens, etc., will be wiped down with a disinfectant solution prior to, and after repairs. Should you have any sensitivities to these chemicals, please contact us prior to bringing your vehicle in.
Customers and COVID-19
If any of the following conditions apply to you, we ask that you come back at a later date and contact HealthLink BC (8-1-1):
We continue to monitor developments closely so that we can quickly adapt and continue to provide the services that you need. We are deeply committed to the safety of our customers and our staff as we all do our part to keep our community safe.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you would like to reschedule your appointment, have any questions, or would like further information please contact our office.
Will I need to pay a deductible?
As a rule, you won’t have to pay a deductible to have your windshield repaired, unless your damaged windshield is deemed unsafe and not appropriate to repair, and must be replaced.
Only an Authorized ICBC Glass Express Facility will be able to determine if it is safe and appropriate to repair. Authorized facilities are those with permanent locations and/or mobile repair services within B.C. — windshield repairs cannot be done at a temporary location such as a kiosk or tent, or out of province. Look for the facilities that carry the Glass Express logo. Click here for more from ICBC.
